RawSpiceBar Chinese Five Spice Char Siu Chicken Recipe
RawSpiceBar is a subscription box service for various fresh spices from around the world. This Char Siu recipe was inspired from the cards they provide with each spice box (a recipe for each spice packet is included).
I made some minor tweaks, and here is the recipe:
Preparing the marinade for the Char Siu Chicken recipe. Use .4oz (full packet of the RawSpiceBar’s Five Spice Powder) 1.5 Tbsp Hoisin Sauce 1.5 Tbsp Molasses 1.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce 1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil Mix together 2.5 lbs Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs (visible fat left on) Put chicken into marinade bowl and mix thoroughly, then place in refrigerator overnight. After 24hrs, Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees, remove marinated chicken from frig and place in 8×11 pan. Once pre-heated put in oven for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and set oven to broil. Once up to temperature put back in the oven for 6 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool. I served this up with some steamed rice and fresh green onions.
